TGG single crystal

TGG single crystals are the best magneto-optical materials for making Faraday rotators and isolators. A Faraday rotator consists of a TGG crystal rod and a specially designed magnet. The polarization direction of a light beam passing through the magneto-optical material will be deflected under the action of a magnetic field. The deflection direction is only related to the direction of the magnetic field and is independent of the propagation direction of the light beam.

Product Details

The center is thicker than the edge and has a converging effect on the light, so it is also called a converging lens. According to different shapes, convex lenses can be divided into biconvex lenses, plano-convex lenses and meniscus lenses, etc., by refracting light to change its propagation direction, so as to achieve the effect of image magnification, reduction, handstand or upright. The special shape leads to its unique optical properties. When the light passes through the cylindrical mirror, the light will be focused into a straight line or other forms of deformation. This property gives cylindrical lenses significant advantages in changing the size of the image, such as converting a point spot into a line spot, or changing the height of the image without changing the image width.

The polarization direction of a light beam passing through the magneto-optical material will be deflected under the action of a magnetic field. The deflection direction is only related to the magnetic field direction and not to the light beam propagation direction. An optical isolator consists of a 45-degree deflected rotator and a pair of polarizers with 45-degree polarization. It allows light beams to pass through in only one direction, while blocking the reverse light beams.

    TGG single crystals have a large magneto-optical constant, high thermal conductivity, low optical loss, and high laser damage threshold. They are widely used in YAG lasers, titanium-doped sapphire tunable lasers, and ring cavity lasers.
